Codes and Conventions are the common 'things' / elements that appear in a media text / product, specifically in Music Videos.
There are four elements to a music video;
- Genre - type or category, different genres require different conventions
- Narrative Structure - order of events / sequence
- Media Language - technical terms, camera, MES, editing and sound
- Representation - the way in which a person/event/object/group of people are shown. Will often have messages and values based on the point of view of the person who constructs the media text.
